We travel quite a bit and first thought of a traveler based reference and rating program for eco destinations when visiting a friends wedding in Tulum Mexico. It was right on the beach, cabans with no electricity, hot houses for meditation & cleansing purposes, it was really quite a special place to go to.
Living without electricity for a week with kids was great!I was just starting to build mobile solar solutions and I thought that if each cabana had a small solar micro system for running some led christmas lights at night, that would help us when I had to comfort a crying child. If they had solar on site people could learn about solar solutions through a wall diagram, etc. and it would be in tune with the hotels mission.
Since then I have met many guide services who take people away from it all for a week and are interested in the program as well.

So stay tuned, as Ecopioneer grows and companies start to understand how easy it is to incorporate smaller solar solutions with high efficiency practices we will post those early adopters for you to visit and review for all of us to consider visiting.
